If you have ever, like myself, taken interest in having your own website to show off your creative genius, aid in a cause, or create an online window for customers to view your products, then you know how difficult it really is. Whatever you create the website for, most people have the idea set into their mind that somehow everything can just be created with simple clicks, drags, pastes, uploads, etc.
When I wanted to start my own website, I learned this is far from the truth. If you want to create a website that is worth your time, it is going to take more time and effort than you may have originally thought.
But we are far from the days of old, and while it is still a large task to create your very own website, there are various tools available to make the process so much easier.
1.) HTML for Beginners
It is only at your advantage to learn HTML. Though it is a pain in the neck, knowing basic HTML is paramount, and being able to manipulate code directly can be more helpful than a Visual Editor often can. Once you learn HTML, it will be a whole lot easier to construct the layout of your web page. And what better to begin with than that...?
2. Master Designing Web Graphics
If you can construct the layout of your web page, you are still far from finished. If you're anything like me, you don't really like using generic templates, and especially not for your own unique website. MDWG can teach you how to create web graphics that will make your website look more like you intended it to be...unique. Some people like to use Adobe Photoshop for this, but considering the hefty price tag (or the guilty conscience if you pirate it), I'm guessing others don't want to go down that road. This program is more aimed at Web Design than Photoshop is anyway.
Combine these two tools and you cannot go wrong.
3.) Global Domains International
I recommend using this hosting service only because a lot of the ".com" website names that are good are already taken! If all the good names you thought of are already taken as a ".com" domain, then check if you can get a ".ws" one! That way, you do not have to settle for a lesser name that you don't really like as much, or purchase that domain (that is, if it is for sale in the first place). GDI also has very good services like mail forwarding and allowing you to have multiple email addresses and a very nifty SiteBuilder. I encourage you to check them out.
I have reviewed these tools, so to learn more, you can visit the blog Pseudo Review: http://pseudoreview.blogspot.com
With these tools, creating a website takes a lot less time, effort, and money than it used to. So go for it!
